Last May 12, 2020, the official podcast of the Presidential Communications Office, Mediaman’s Mancave Podcast, featured Cagayan de Oro City-based entrepreneur and infotech (IT) company founder Bryan Joseph King as their guest.
The podcast episode was focused on the effects of Enhanced Community Quarantine, or ECQ, on the economy, and how software solutions may be the way to go about things in a post-pandemic world. With businesses closing indefinitely and the economy dipping dangerously low thanks to sluggish sales remittances nationwide, the podcast discussed the benefits and disadvantages of lifting ECQ in various regions in the country, and if there’s a possible compromise that keeps people safe but also encourages economic movement.
Mediaman’s Mancave Podcast host, Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, and the episode’s co-host, Asst. Secretary Ramon “Mon” Cualoping III, welcomed the Cagayan de Oro business owner on the show during the guest interview segment.
Mr. King, who has been an IT professional for 15 years, spoke about how the community quarantine has made people wary about going out to physical stores for purchases. “Kase yung mga tao, ayaw lumabas (people don’t want to go out),” he commented during the interview.
Sec. Andanar asked Mr. King about the Point-of-Sale (POS) system software, MoneyCache, that Mr. King and his company had developed both as a POS system and inventory and transactions management software.
“We noticed that with current COVID crisis, a lot of business owners are, naghihirap sila kase, because of the quarantine (We noticed that with current COVID crisis, a lot of business owners are struggling because of the quarantine),” outlined Mr. King about MoneyCache’s concept and development. “[…] So what we, we thought of, na we have an existing Point-of-Sale system na it used to be a paid system pero, we made it, we made a free version para naman makatulog sa kapwa business owners natin dito (So what we, we thought of, is we have an existing Point-of-Sale system and it used to be a paid system but, we made it, we made a free version so that we can help our fellow business owners here).”
The software, MoneyCache, was originally intended as a license software offering, but Mr. King has released a free version of the software that comes with an eCommerce website setup.
Said Mr. King regarding the free version of the software, “[…] What we did is we added a feature na pwede sila magbenta online, and pwede sila tumanggap ng payment through credit cards, so online na lahat (So what we did is we added a feature where they [business owners] can sell online, and they can accept payment through credit cards, so everything is online).”
In layman’s terms, MoneyCache not only helps small businesses keep track of sales and inventory, it also comes with a free eCommerce website with a payment portal that connects directly to the MoneyCache software. Business owners can then sell online and update their sales and inventory in real time, with just a few taps on their laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
Sec. Andanar praised Mr. King for his community advocacy and modern approach to traditional Bayanihan values. He also praised Mr. King, his team, and outreach partner CDO BlogCon for their charity efforts; Mr. King and CDO BlogCon had raised funds and resources for the donation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and hot meals for a local public hospital and COVID-19 treatment center in Cagayan de Oro City.
More information about MoneyCache and how to register for the software is available through the POS system’s official website, money-cache.org.
